Chocolate and bread is such a largely European thing. And I have no idea why it didn’t spread to the rest of the world faster. There can be few more delightful ways to get a sugar rush at breakfast time than combining the filling feeling of bread with the sweet kick of chocolate.

When I was a kid Nutella was always considered something of a treat. And in fact, in my kitchen it still has to be as I will just eat it straight from the jar given half a chance. But if I can resist that for a moment then these Nutella French Toast Roll Ups are just the perfect treat to make with it.

Nutella French Toast Roll-Ups

I don’t have to say much about these Nutella French Toast Roll-Ups. You just need to go to the store right now and make them right now. Delicious does not do them justice.

  • Total Time: 13 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

8 slices brioche bread

8 tablespoons Nutella or hazelnut Chocolate spread, room temperature

2 eggs

1 tablespoon half and half

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

23 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons bakers sugar or superfine sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Place slices of bread on a chopping board, using a rolling pin, flatten out each slice.
  2. Spread chocolate hazelnut on top of each slice. Roll up bread to resemble a roll up like in the picture.
  3. Whisk eggs with half and half and vanilla. Dip each roll-up into the mixture. Repeat with all rollups.
  4. Preheat a skillet with a tablespoon of butter over medium heat on a nonstick skillet and cook for about 2 minutes each side. add more butter if needed.
  5. Roll in the sugar mixture and enjoy!
