Best Stove Top Mac and Cheese

This stovetop Mac and Cheese is just one of the best Mac and Cheese recipes I discovered when I lived in napa valley at a restaurant named Marke that I worked at back in 2005. It is so creamy and tangy and can be thrown together in minutes once the pasta is cooked. Try it out, I promise you will not be disappointed.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8

Ingredients

1 lb elbow macaroni

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 cup sour cream

10 oz chopped bacon

1 cup panko breadcrumbs toasted

1 tablespoon Lovely Seasoning

3 cups heavy cream

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated

1 cup Parmesan cheese,  grated

1/4 cup chopped parsley

1/4 cup chopped chives

Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon until crispy. Set aside. 

  2. Toast breadcrumbs in a nonstick pan and set aside. Add lovely seasoning. 

  3. Cook pasta and place on a tray to cool; drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Mix sour cream and mustard with the pasta. 

  4. Heat cream until it comes to a simmer, add cheeses and stir until melted. 

  5. Add the pasta to the cheese mixture. Stir and heat until it’s piping hot.  

  6. Add bacon, parsley, and chives, and season with salt and pepper. 

  7. Pour the mixture into a serving dish, top with toasted breadcrumbs, and serve!

    Loved this Mac and cheese! So great that you don’t have to bake it in the oven as it always get dried out. The flavors combined beautifully and it was a BIG hit with the whole family. Definitely recommend trying this recipe!
