When I was in college, we would go over to my friend Mashe’s house on a Friday night pretty much all through our last year. She would make Moroccan Chicken with Dates just like this one and without a doubt we all loved it. It was undeniably one of the big draws of going to her place. Of course, she would never tell us her secret recipe back then. In fact, it actually is a super easy dish to make using a few spices from your pantry. All in all, that’s it!

A lot of people call this a chicken tagine, and you could indeed say that. All you need it a dutch oven or a heavy pot and you basically get the same effect. I like to use chicken thighs as they hold their juiciness a lot better than a chicken breast in this case. While this may be true, there is nothing to stop you experimenting and finding your own favorite version.

Recipe Alternative:

  • If you wanted to use a chicken breast, I would add it to the pot at the last 7-10 minutes of cooking.

Top Tip:

  • Despite this being an easy dish, don’t forget the chicken needs to sit! Certainly not a meal to try to rustle together in a hurry. But certainly, the flavor is worth the wait!

So, ok guys!  If you make this Moroccan Chicken with Dates, please leave a comment and indeed give this recipe a share! After all, I love to hear from all of you, and I thereby do my best to respond to your comments. Lastly, if you do make this recipe, don’t forget to tag me on Instagram! Because I like to look through and see your creations. Post to Instagram stories too so I can easily share with my fans! Most important, remember to have fun! And to be sure I would love to see it.

Now that you’ve made this, have you discovered a love of dates? In truth, they are one of my favorite ingredients. In essence, versatile and tasty. Try my Apple and Date Salad.
